Nellie the Dog needs a home

Don't forget what the future says Live in the present tense If you want to break free from the past. Don't say it should’ve been Don't say it could’ve been Cause what should’ve been, Is happening right now Don't say it should’ve been Don't say someday, somehow Say it right now, Say it right now! I wanna live with no regrets. - from- 'No Regrets' by Nelly Furtado                                                                                            Sweet lovable Nellie has a had a rough start to life but she refuses to let her past interfere with her present and her future. Nellie is a 7 month old black lab mix weighing 35 lbs. She likely won't be any bigger than 45 to 50 lbs when full grown. She's a typical little girl with a typical lab puppy personality which means lots of fun and lots of play. Nellie has done a wonderful job with her crate and house training. She has done really well with her potty training when let out for regular outside breaks. She does have a case of the piddles once in a while if she is startled or thinks she is in trouble. She would like for her new family to understand she is still a baby and learning lots of new things so please be patient, this will pass as she gets older and is more sure of her way in the world. We don't really know the how and why of her beginnings but we do know she was neglected. This adorable girl ended up in an overcrowded high kill shelter with barely a patch of fur on her during one of the coldest winters the south has ever seen. She needed special care and some special people to get her beautiful and healthy again, enter her rescue foster family! After several weeks of TLC and treatment she got her pretty black coat back and her personality just shined. Nellie loves to play with her foster siblings and she doesn't let her comparative small size get in the way. Foster mom says she is not afraid of anything....except jumping in the car. She's okay once in but for some reason the act of jumping in is unsettling for now and foster mom is working on this with her. Nellie is obviously good with other dogs and she is gentle and loving towards the 4 year old little girl (known to paint Nellie's nails and dress her up) who lives in the home. She has had limited exposure to cats and seems to be okay with them. This precious pup is still working on a few details but she is working really hard to be a big girl. She is still working on some basic commands like sit and stay, getting better with her leash training, and getting the hand of what is okay to chew on. She still needs some supervision until she is a little more mature and fully understands boundaries, but that is pretty much any puppy. Foster mom advises getting some really tough chew toys to keep her busy along with daily exercise. Nellie is already spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, current on preventatives, and micro chipped. She is ready to move forward on her journey where the ending will be with a loving forever family in her perfect forever home. She will never have to deal with the unknown or the longing sense of of someday somehow. This is right now and will lead to forever and she will live with no regrets.
